Thomas’ expertise lies within the field of mechanics. He has an M.Sc. degree from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg. Prior to joining Valea in August 2005, he worked as a consultant within the field of technical analyses, mostly towards the vehicle and energy industries.
Thomas works within the full range of patent related assignments, including pre- and post-grant proceedings as well as validity and infringement analyses. During post-grant proceedings, he has conducted numerous oral proceedings before first instances and the Boards of Appeal of the EPO, as well as before the Swedish Intellectual Property Office. Thomas has also served as a technically qualified judge for a patent infringement dispute before the Oslo District Court.
In his role as patent attorney, Thomas has been involved in projects relating to a plurality of different fields of technology, including the vehicle industry, the offshore industry, medical devices and consumer products.
During the academic year of 2019 – 2020, Thomas attended the University Diploma program "Patent Litigation in Europe", held by the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies of the University of Strasbourg. He passed the course with grade level “Trés bien” which is the highest honour grade level
