I am a partner in our Intellectual Property Group with over 20 years' experience and lead our brand management team here in The Hague. I am also the head of our international luxury, fashion and retail team, and head of the Dutch Consumer & Retail group.
As an experienced litigator, I specialise in trademark, design, copyright and advertising, and have a particular focus on cases involving product design. I handle cases in front of the courts as well as many proceedings at the Benelux trademark office and EUIPO.
Many of the contentious matters I am working on have an international angle and over the years, I have developed a particular experience in pan-European enforcement strategies of trademarks and designs, including customs and parallel import enforcement strategies. In these multi-jurisdictional cases, I very much enjoy working closely with colleagues in the other offices to provide the best service to our clients, keeping in mind not only the legal issues but the business side as well.
Apart from contentious work, my practice also provides global strategic advice on IP rights, and the protection and registration of trademark and design portfolios. Alongside my team, we offer cradle-to grave trademark services, thereby combining our experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters.
I assist many businesses in the retail sector, including the world's best known brands. Working in the sector and heading the Dutch retail group and the international fashion, luxury and retail team gives me a good understanding of the industry and the issues impacting it.
