London & Partners to choose its registry

09 January 2012

The official London promotional agency, which will apply for a .london gTLD, said it will choose its registry operator by February this year.

London & Partners, whose bid is backed by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, issued a request for proposal (RFP) which closed on January 5.

At least two registries, Minds + Machines and UK-based CentralNic, responded to the RFP. Others such as Nominet previously said that it would apply while VeriSign, Neustar and Afilias all refused to comment.

Other cities expected to be represented by gTLDs are New York, Rome and Riga.
