Lady Gaga’s poker face led her to the top of the charts in 2009, and now she is promising not to fold against companies trying to use her name to sell unauthorised products and prevent her from registering her own marks
“Usually somebody picks a trade mark and they’re not really aware somebody has registered it,” said Robyn Crowther of Caldwell Leslie. “But to actually go ahead and register a trade mark of a celebrity who’s known throughout the world, I think, is brazen.”
The singer is seeking injunctive relief and damages from Excite Worldwide and Excite International for using and selling cosmetics and jewellery under her name. She also hopes to force the accused infringers to withdraw their trade mark applications from the USPTO.
