Hiring the right investigator in every jurisdiction in Asia can be difficult, brand owners emphasised this week

"I am based in Hong Kong and cover Asia-Pacific, which includes 14 to 15 markets. I cannot walk into another jurisdiction and disguise myself to collect critical information for enforcement," said Mayank Vaid, Asia-Pacific IP enforcement director at LVMH.

On securing the right investigator, Thomas Ma, Asia-Pacific director of global security and trade mark protection at Estée Lauder said: "I talk with other brand owners to ask them who the good investigators are, and who has a good reputation and integrity.
