The study says that 36,436 trade marks were registered in 2009. The same year saw 50,107 trade mark applications (including Madrid filings), a drop from 2008 when there were 57,112 applications.
The report says the increase, combined with Russia’s expected 4% economic growth this year, means IP professionals should pay close attention to the market: “These numbers are testament to the growing awareness of Russia as a viable market and the country’s emergence as a capital-focused, industrialized nation.”
