Wayne Helge

Wayne Helge is a Registered Patent Attorney who represents clients in all aspects of patent and intellectual property law, including litigation, post-grant patent challenges, patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, and technology-related commercial disputes.

Wayne has extensive experience and a strong track record representing clients before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications, including ex parte reexaminations, and has acted as counsel in more than 200 inter partes review proceedings, most often serving as lead counsel.

He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts across the United States, including active patent litigation venues in Texas, California, and Delaware, as well as appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His experience includes patent infringement litigation, software licensing disputes, breaches of non-disclosure agreements, trade secret misappropriation claims, and the preparation of legal opinions to help clients avoid infringement liability. He has also negotiated and drafted numerous U.S. and international patent licences.

Wayne has worked across a broad range of technologies, including computer-based threat modelling, power distribution systems, medical devices, online gaming and virtual reality software, imaging software solutions, fibre-optic communications, semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing, video encoding, flat-panel displays, telecommunications devices and standards, and computer memory technologies.

He is also a Registered Professional Engineer and earned a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign while serving as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard.
