Laura Artigas holds an MSc in Telecommunications engineering and, during her professional career of more than 10 years in Intellectual Property matters, she has gained experience in patents involving Computer Implemented Inventions (CII), Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), medical devices, automotive engineering, printing technology, quantum computing technologies and mechanics in general.
After having a first experience in IP at the European Patent Office (EPO) on classification tasks in sector H04N21 in 2011, she joined a patent firm in Madrid where she worked for 3 years and passed half of the European qualifying exams (EQE). She then moved to Paris to work as in-house patent attorney for 3 years in a multinational company dedicated to the management of natural resources where, among other tasks, she passed the other half of the qualifying exams, and was in charge of a patent portfolio relating to remote operation, smart decisions, and telecommunications. Laura had the opportunity to advice the Group’s innovation teams, reshaping thereby their working habits to align their outcomes to the Group’s IP strategy. Ms Artigas joined ZBM Patents & Trademarks in 2018 where she puts into practice the strategical thinking learnt as an in-house attorney to advice ZBM’s clients.
In all these positions, Ms Artigas has been involved in matters such as patentability studies, patent drafting and prosecution, and validity and risk of infringement studies, in particular validity and infringement of Standard Essential Patents (SEP) relating to 4G LTE. Ms Artigas holds the title of European Patent Attorney since 2017, and a Diploma in Patent Litigation in Europe (Politecnico di Milano) since September 2021.
