Cameron Smith is a Partner in FB Rice’s Melbourne biotechnology team. He specialises in developing and executing global market exclusivity strategies for cutting-edge biotechnology products, with a focus on biological therapeutics including cell and gene therapies, precision medicines, CAR-T therapies, antibodies and mRNA technologies. Cameron works with a diverse client base ranging from publicly listed companies to early-stage ventures and university commercialisation teams preparing for technology transfer.
Cameron has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting international patent portfolios, as well as providing due diligence, patent landscape analysis and opposition support before the Australian and New Zealand Patent Offices. He works closely with clients to structure patent portfolios that support commercialisation and capital raising initiatives, including IPOs, venture debt and partnerships with global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Cameron was recognised as a Notable Practitioner by Managing Intellectual Property in 2025 and named in the IAM Strategy 300 in 2025.
