2,000 websites suspended by UK police

The UK’s Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) has suspended more than 2,000 websites selling fake luxury goods so far this year, as part of its Operation Ashiko

The suspended sites were selling counterfeit goods such as clothes, handbags, sunglasses and jewellery. Brands affected include Burberry, Longchamp, Oakley, Tiffany & Co and Thomas Sabo.

Since Operation Ashiko was launched in October 2013, nearly 5,500 websites selling fake goods have been suspended.
