Join us in London and Munich for the IP in Asia Forum

Two one-day events in Europe on June 9 and 11 will cover the latest IP developments in China, Japan and South Korea. Registration is free for in-house counsel

IP in Asia 2015

The first forum takes place in London on June 9 and the second in Munich on June 11.

Confirmed speakers for London include Andy Booth of Dyson Technology and Charles Clark of Edwards Limited while those in Munich include Clemens Heusch of Nokia, Oliver Pfaffenzeller of Siemens, Thomas Okon of Carl Zeiss and Azadeh Mehrabi of ABB.

Also speaking at both events will be representatives of our sponsors – Baker & McKenzie; Liu, Shen & Associates; Lung Tin; Y P Lee, Mock & Partners; Sanyou; Shanghai Patent & Trademark Law Office; Sonoda & Kobayashi; and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co.

The forums will be an invaluable way to get up to date with the latest developments in these vital markets. Topics covered will include patent drafting, enforcement, invalidation, patentability and ADR.

There will also be opportunities to network and ask questions of our specialist speakers and panellists.

The forums are particularly timely given recent and pending developments in the region. China is in the process of making changes to its Patent Law, while controversy continues over its utility model system and competition regime (see this article in the FT – subscription required).

In Japan, meanwhile, there are changes for trade mark and design owners with the extension of non-traditional marks and recent accession to the Hague Agreement. In patents, practitioners are interested in the impact of the new chief judge of the IP High Court, Ryuichi Shitara, who was appointed last year, and the introduction of the post-grant opposition system.

And in Korea the continuing growth in patent and trade mark applications continues to present new challenges.

So there should be plenty for everyone to discuss during the day.

For more information about both forums, including the full programme and details of how to register, see our event page. Note that the London forum also offers six CPD points.
