Now online: IP STARS 2016 patent rankings

IP Stars stacked 400

The second part of the annual IP Stars rankings of the leading firms for IP work worldwide is now available

You can read all the firm rankings in over 70 jurisdictions for free simply by registering your details here. Once registered, you will find the rankings for each country listed under the relevant region.

All of those firms listed this year deserve congratulations on being included.

Methodology and structure

The new rankings cover patent prosecution and contentious work and have been compiled by our team of researchers based on questionnaires submitted and interviews conducted over the past four months, as well as publicly available information. Prosecution includes all work before the IP office both pre- and post-grant while contentious work covers all other patent-related legal work.

Firms are ranked in tiers or as “Recommended” in each category, and are listed alphabetically. The total number of firms listed, and the number of tiers, varies by jurisdiction. The research is independent and rigorous. No firm can pay to be included, or solicit recommendations, and Managing IP does not recommend or endorse any particular firms or individuals.

What's next this year

The final 2016 firm rankings to expect are for copyright work in jurisdictions such as Australia, Japan, South Africa, the US and UK. These will be published in April. In the meantime, the 2015 copyright rankings will remain online.

Later in the year we will publish our latest commentaries on the ranked firms, and the 2016 list of individual IP stars on the website. These, including all the rankings, will also be published in the 2016 edition of the IP Stars handbooks.

More information

Please note that the firm analysis and individual IP stars list on the website are from the 2015 edition of the IP Stars handbooks. These will be replaced with the 2016 version later this year. The patent rankings are also published in the March paper issue of Managing IP, which is distributed to subscribers. Subscribe online to order your own copy.
