Michelle Lee, Judge Sharon Prost and Q Todd Dickinson are among the speakers at the US Patent Forum, hosted later this month by Managing IP

They among a group of IP officials, in-house attorneys and private practitioners tackling hot IP topics including how to file better patents post-AIA; strategies for dealing with an increasingly activist Supreme Court in the life science sector; protecting your IP in key emerging markets; understanding the changing litigation landscape in Europe; and the latest legal efforts to take on patent trolls.

The Forum is being held at the Willard InterContinental, Washington DC on March 25, the same day that Managing IP will host its North America Awards dinner.

The day begins with a keynote address from Michelle Lee, deputy director of the US Patent and Trademark Office. Other speakers in the morning include counsel from Google and SC Johnson & Son, and attorneys from Banner & Witcoff on patent filing after the AIA; and counsel from the life science sector on the practical impact of recent Supreme Court rulings in Myriad and WARF.

There are panels on latest ITC developments and preparing for Europe’s new Unified Patent Court system before a networking lunch.

The afternoon’s panels include a discussion on the relationship between courts in the US (which will also see an Ask the Judge Q&A session); Lead Judge Michael Tierney of the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board on post-grant proceedings; and  Mark Cohen, senior counsel, China at the USPTO and Commissioner Bruce Lehman on China.
