Burns & Levinson adds six to IP team

Boston-based law firm Burns & Levinson has added six new hires to its IP group, comprising partners Joseph Maraia and John Serio, of counsel Steven Mills, associates Weber Hsiao and Nikhil Patel, and patent agent Michael Mattoni

This expansion brings the size of the IP group to 35 attorneys and two patent agents. The group is co-chaired by Ronda Moore and Deborah Peckham, who joined the firm in 2009 from K&L Gates LLP.

Maraia was previously head of Pierce Atwood’s patent practice and a member of its intellectual property and technology group. He is also immediate past-president of the Boston Patent Law Association.

Serio, formerly of Seyfarth Shaw, is an FDA practitioner and registered patent attorney whose IP practice is concentrated on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, chemistry and analytical scientific equipment.
