Kin is a Partner at Madderns, and always puts himself in his client’s shoes when handling IP matters, aiming to achieve the best possible outcome.
During his PhD candidature, he was attached to the Adelaide Auto-ID Laboratory, with his research specialising in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems and networks, High Frequency (HF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) antenna designs for RFID applications, electromagnetic compatibility relating to RFID standards and regulations, RFID reader synchronisation, deployment and optimisation, and studies on electromagnetic simulation and modelling.
With a strong technical background, Kin strives to understand the client’s invention thoroughly prior to advising the best IP protection strategy, and prior to drafting a patent specification for the invention. Kin has experience in managing company patent portfolios, preparing IP budgets, enforcing IP rights and anti-counterfeiting.
Kin is also trained in trade mark prosecution, allowing him to provide a thorough and complete package of IP advice to any client, including patent, trade mark and design information.
Outside work, Kin enjoys reading Chinese literature and English fantasy stories. He is also a chess enthusiast, a frequent moviegoer and a fan of computer-related technologies.
Kin is a member of our China Team, which provides specialist filing and prosecution services for patents, trade marks and designs in China, as well as strategic IP advice for that jurisdiction.
