Katia is specialized in all branches of intellectual property law with a focus on trademark law, design law and copyright. She handles key account clients, assist multinational corporations, as well as SME’s. Her goal is to provide balanced and cost-efficient solutions for her clients, taking into account their strategic and long term goals. She provides strategic advice on the protection of intellectual property: the necessity and scope of protection for intellectual efforts, the timing for implementing long term projects, the relevance of search reports with legal advice before filing applications, the presentation of solutions in case of obstacles linked to such filings. She has gained extensive experience in these fields of law not only as a prosecutor, but also as a litigator, as she has been a member of the Brussels bar for some years. Since 2017 Katia is also heading our Dispute Resolution Service, which aims at assisting clients which are confronted with an IP dispute. In that regard she defends her client’s IP rights and aims to find out of court solutions. She has a strong focus on anti-counterfeit and illicit parallel trade and is successful in stopping infringers and obtaining damages for clients without having to go to court. Indeed within GEVERS a system has been developed in which the efforts put into battling such illicit goods are paid for by recovered damages. Katia is proficient in English, French and German and her mother tongue is Dutch.
