Dr. Joachim Wachenfeld studied biology and American studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt/Main and Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. After a brief research period at the Max Planck Institute in Tübingen, he completed his Ph.D. at the Basel Institute for Immunology and at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology in Freiburg im Breisgau. Dr. Wachenfeld joined the firm of VOSSIUS in 1990, and became a partner in the firm in 1997.
Dr. Wachenfeld has published various articles in his field and given numerous lectures in Germany and abroad. He is a co-editor of the journal "Life Sciences Intellectual Property Review (LSIPR)". In the past, he served as an adviser to the Commission of the European Communities. Since 2018, he is a member of BioM's mediation programme.
