Gunther Roland is a South African patent attorney and partner at Von Seidels.
In addition to being a South African patent attorney, Gunther is also a qualified Namibian attorney and registered ARIPO representative. Gunther heads up the African patent and industrial designs practice and as such advises both start-ups as well as multinational companies on their African patent acquisition, prosecution and enforcement strategies. He is fluent in German.
Gunther has a growing patent drafting and prosecution practice both for local and international clients focusing primarily on mechanical, electronic and civil inventions including medical devices and computer implemented technologies.
Gunther also regularly advises companies on international transfer of intellectual property rights, drafts intellectual property based agreements including licensing, manufacture, research and development as well as acquisition, and advises companies to strategically align their IP portfolios to attract investment.
