Arild has the mechanical field as his core field. More than 30 years of patent work has taught him almost every nook and cranny of the patent world.
He has been into a wide variety of technical aspects, such as bicycle locks, water heater fittings, CPR equipment, trawl sensors, lamp armatures, pumps and wave power plants. In particular he has been working on patent applications in the following fields, offshore oil and gas, wind power, fishery and fish farming. Arild has been engaged as an expert witness in several patent trials, and he has also acted as an expert judge in a few trials. He was also a member of the Norwegian Board of Appeal for a few years.
Arild started his career as a patent Examiner at the Norwegian Intellectual Property Office. During this time he got in-depth knowledge of the patent law. He was actively engaged in the work of FICPI, the largest international organization for the free patent profession, for about ten years. During this time, he gained a large international network that has been of great benefit since.
Arild is not only an experienced patent drafter, but he is also a clever analyser of prior art and identifier of patentable matter. He has conducted an extensive number of Freedom-to-Operate (FTO), infringement and validity analyses.
As head of the patent department of Protector he is a valuable asset, always ready to try to find an answer to any complicated patent related problem.
