Biography
Ana-Maria Baciu is a regulatory and intellectual property lawyer with more than 25 years of experience advising clients across a wide range of industries, including retail, FMCG, gaming and gambling, IT, e-commerce, and life sciences. Renowned for her innovative outlook, she has demonstrated a forward-thinking approach throughout her career, both as an intrapreneur and entrepreneur. In previous roles, she established the first dedicated intellectual property, consumer protection, and gambling law teams within a major Romanian law firm. She is independently recognized as one of the leading practitioners in the Romanian market.

A licensed European trademark and design attorney, Ana-Maria advises clients on the full spectrum of intellectual property matters. Her expertise encompasses both contentious and non-contentious work, including disputes concerning the validity of intellectual property rights, trade mark, design and patent infringement claims, plagiarism cases, rebranding strategies, intellectual property transactions, rights transfers, licensing and franchising arrangements, portfolio management, complex intellectual property due diligence, filing and prosecution strategies, and anti-counterfeiting initiatives.

In the gaming and gambling sector, Ana-Maria advises operators, suppliers, industry stakeholders, and relevant associations on regulatory and operational matters, including representation before the National Gambling Office.

She has also developed significant expertise in the life sciences sector, particularly advising pharmaceutical manufacturers on compliance and regulatory matters. In addition, she is highly active in consumer protection and retail-related issues, regularly engaging with trade associations and public authorities, including the Consumer Protection Authority, on matters affecting businesses that interact directly with consumers.

A regular contributor to specialist publications and a lecturer on artificial intelligence, intellectual property, social media, digital matters, gaming, and gambling, Ana-Maria also delivers tailored intellectual property training programs to multinational corporations.
