China’s SAIC releases new draft regulations for well-known marks

China’s State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC) seeks public comments on its newest revision for the Regulations for the Recognition and Protection of Well-known Trademarks

The new draft regulations and explanatory notes arrive as the new Trademark Law is set to come into effect on May 1. The new Trademark Law has provisions dealing with well-known trade marks, most notably limiting the use of well-known status as an advertising tool.

The public notice and request for comment can be found here.

Public comments can be made via email to gssb@saic.gov.cn until May 13. Check back next week for analysis of the proposed changes.
