Report highlights poor patent information

One quarter of patent registry records are inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, according to a new report

The report is published by the Open Register of Patent Ownership (OroPO), and is sponsored by Aistemos.

ORoPO, which is launched today, is an open register of patent ownership which aims to achieve greater transparency about who owns patents. Founding members include IBM, Microsoft, ARM, BAE Systems and Conversant.

The 18-page report is based on a survey of 96 corporate executives, 40% of them IP specialists, conducted between February 10 and March 25 this year.
