Bright Lights conference to feature investors and disruptive demos

On Monday and Tuesday September 10 and 11 Managing IP will be partnering with MDB Capital Group for the third annual Bright Lights conference in New York City - an invitation-only event highlighting disruptive technologies to Wall Street investors

MDB Capital Group is Wall Street’s only IP investment bank. Its focus is exclusively on financing companies that have “disruptive, market-changing technology and intellectual property”. Its professionals have raised over $4 billion to finance over 200 companies.

The conference will feature about 30 IP companies in high-growth industries such as energy, healthcare and technology. It will include presentations from leaders in the industry, who will discuss the value of intellectual property and how to commercialise innovation.

The event will include a demo room which will display some of the disruptive technologies in action. Participants will be able to literally play video games with their brain using BCInet’s patented brain-computer interface; experience the HyperSound system, which electronically converts audible tones into ultrasonic waves; and learn how Tigerlogic’s social media platform, Postano, can monetise social media. There will also be discussions with the CEO of MDB Capital Group, Chris Marlett, who will provide insight into recent patent battles and how technology companies can safeguard their IP.

Attendees of the event will be asked to fill out a questionnaire developed by Managing IP, which will be used to provide analysis following the conference. The survey includes questions such as: What factors are most important when making the decision to invest in a particular technology?; Which industries are most intriguing to investors?; and What role do high-profile patent cases play in informing risk analysis? It also asks investors about the importance of patent protection, what makes a good patent and the factors involved in their patent review processes. Answers to all questions are confidential.

The conference will be held at the New York Palace Hotel, starting with breakfast speakers at 7:30 am both days. For more information, please visit the conference website.
