Judge Davis will join the firm as of counsel on May 18, and will provide strategic counselling to clients in intellectual property matters.

He has been on the Eastern District bench since 2002, as chief judge from 2012 until early 2015. He handled more than 1,700 individual cases involving intellectual property law. Before that, Davis maintained a private practice as a trial lawyer for 23 years.

During Davis’ tenure, the Eastern District’s patent docket has grown from fewer than 10 cases in 2002 to more than 1,000 pending actions in 2015. He personally has presided over as many as 11 patent jury trials in a 12-month period.
