The Forum is being held at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London, and will be followed by Managing IP’s annual Global Awards Dinner at The Dorchester.
The Forum begins on March 18 with a keynote address by James Pooley (right), deputy director general for innovation and technology at WIPO.
Other speakers on the first morning include: Georg Heger of Bayer Material Science; Bart van der Stockt of Unilin; Kevin Fournier of IBM; and Sam Funnell of DeepMind Technologies.
Dhiren Patel of Nokia Siemens Networks and Claudia Tapi-Garcia of BlackBerry are taking part in a panel on licensing standard essential patents in the tech sector, while Ian Hiscock of Novartis will be on a panel on the UPC.
On March 19, Nicky Weimar of Nedbank Group Economic Unit and Christopher Kiige, chief patent examiner of ARIPO, will feature in a discussion on how to navigate Africa’s diverse business regions. Reda Bouchenak of Sanofi will address the topic of compulsory licensing in the pharmaceutical and med-tech sector and Tony Piotrowski of MPEG LA will present on increased litigation in the USA.
