Ronny D. Banchik acts as consultant and litigant in the areas of trademark, patent and copyright law as well as competition law. Further areas of expertise include ICT law (Information and Communications Technologies) as well as licensing law and legal compliance. He has broad experience in the development, protection and defense of national and international trademark portfolios in a variety of industrial sectors as well as in the development of trademark strategies in Europe and internationally. He also has in-depth knowledge regarding conflicts between confusingly similar products, company names and domain names (UDRP disputes at WIPO).
Ronny Banchik started his professional career in the Legal & Compliance department of a Swiss bank in Zurich. He is therefore also involved in various areas of regulatory compliance (analysis and evaluation of compliance risks, in particular topics such as AML/KYC as well as enforcement proceedings). Furthermore, he is representing and advising employers and employees in employment law matters for several years and has gained a wealth of experience, in particular regarding the enforcement of non-compete covenants, drafting and enforcing termination agreements and judicial challenges of wrongful termination of employment contracts.
Ronny Banchik studied (lic. iur. 2007) and obtained his doctorate (magna cum laude) at the University of Zurich on the topic „The legal protection of logos in Intellectual Property Law“. His doctoral thesis dealt with the protection of logos in trademark law, design law and copyright law. He has been practicing as a lawyer since 2013. Afterwards he entered a postgraduate LL.M. program in the area of intellectual property rights at New York University and graduated in 2016 with an LL.M. in Competition, Innovation and Information Law.
