Martyn is a Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and European Design Attorney in the Engineering and Designs Group.
Martyn has particular experience in the filing and prosecution of patent and design applications worldwide for all types of mechanical subject matter. He advises on issues of portfolio management, infringement and validity and has successfully conducted a number of patent restorations. He also works on due diligence matters including freedom-to-operate opinions and preparations for funding activities.
Martyn has extensive experience in contentious matters and in High Court litigation involving entitlement, infringement, validity, amendment, added matter and threats. He has been involved in numerous high profile proceedings before the European Patent Office including pre-grant, opposition and appeal proceedings.
While Martyn advises across a wide range of industry sectors he has special focus on: power generation; carpet making machines; wellhead technology; oil/water separation; domestic combined heat and power; packaging and medical instruments.
Martyn has a BEng (Hons) Engineering from the University of Exeter.
