Ms. Gonca Adali Basmakci joined Ankara Patent Bureau team in 2002.
She received her Bachelor’s in Banking and Finance from Bilkent University and master’s in production and marketing from Gazi University. She joined a two-year programme at the Institute of Justice to improve her skills and broaden her horizons. She is fluent in English and proficient in French.
Ms. Adalı Başmakçı currently works as a patent and trademark attorney. Before being promoted to the Intellectual Property Operations Director, she worked as Head of the Trademark Department for twelve years and as Manager of Foreign Trademark Applications Department of Ankara Patent Bureau for almost nine years. Her area of expertise covers portfolio management, strategy development for trademark application processes, registration and enforcement procedures for both local and foreign clients.
Working closely with global institutions and gathering international experience, Ms. Adalı Başmakçı has a profound understanding of the field. She has represented numerous local and foreign companies in a wide range of industries including but not limited to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, textile, electronics, food and beverages. She successfully conducted patent and trademark procedures of these companies before Turkish Trademark and Patent Office.
Ms. Adalı Başmakçı believes that knowledge and experience must be shared in order to support the national economy and industry. That is why she is a diligent lecturer. She teaches prominent IP matters like local and international trademark procedures. She is also as a registered expert for IP courts since 2019. In order to keep up with the new developments and follow latest issues, she annually attends international conferences and represents Ankara Patent Bureau in high profile organizations.
Ms. Adalı Başmakçı is also a notable member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property Turkey and INTA.
