Biography
Alexander Reetz, LL.M. specializes in all aspects of patent law and technical copyright law. He has specific expertise in all aspects of IP litigation, i.e. representation in infringement and nullity/opposition/cancellation proceedings, coordination of patent disputes and cross-border work, evidentiary seizures, border seizures, and enforcement counter-measures.
Dr. Reetz has represented and advised numerous clients in highly litigious matters relating to SEPs and non-SEPs over the past decade (mobile networks, connected cars), and also advises on SEP-strategy in the field of smart grids. However, his litigation experience extends to various fields of technology, and includes litigation on mobile dating and gaming platforms, activity tracking, medical devices and wearables, semiconductors and electronics, robotics, and mechanical engineering.
Dr. Reetz studied law in Cologne, Aberdeen (UK) and Stellenbosch (RSA). He received his doctorate degree from University of Cologne for a fundamental rights-dogmatic study of the law and history governing university inventors and earned a Master's degree from the University of Aberdeen (UK). He was admitted to the bar in 2008. ., Dr. Reetz used to be a senior member (Counsel) of the Düsseldorf patent litigation practice of Hogan Lovells, before he joined Wildanger in January 2019 as a partner.
Dr. Reetz is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright (GRUR), the German group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (AIPPI) as well as the German Association of Intellectual Property Professionals (VPP).

Peter-Michael primarily focuses on patent law, but also advises and represents national and international companies in the areas of trademark (he represented the plaintiff in ECJ "Thomson Life"), unfair competition and utility model law. He mostly handles patent infringement cases before national courts throughout Germany, often with parallel proceedings around the world. He has particular experience with standard essential patents and handled prominent cases which led to some of the first German judgements post Huawei v ZTE/ECJ, including connected cars.
