Described as an “utterly phenomenal practitioner”, Abi leverages her experience in biologics and cancer research for clients across the field of Life Sciences, with particular expertise in antibodies, new vaccine technologies and next generation sequencing. Other key fields of practice include cancer therapeutics, antimicrobial resistance and gene therapies.
Abi employs a client-centric approach, providing practical, commercially focussed advice to a diverse range of clients; from small start-ups to large multinationals. Abi works closely with her clients on both complex prosecution matters and commercially important oppositions, as well as drafting and prosecuting patent applications. A number of Abi's clients are start-ups, and Abi works closely with the leadership teams to co-ordinate worldwide patent prosecution and overall IP strategies, and advise on due diligence matters. She also has valuable in-house experience gained during a year-long client secondment which culminated in the successful acquisition of the UK start-up client by a large multinational pharma company.
Abi attended Brasenose College, University of Oxford, where in 2016 she graduated with a MBiochem (Hons) degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. Abi is a member of the CIPA Life Sciences committee, lectures for the CIPA Foundations program and leads tutorials on European and UK patent law for students studying for Qualifying Examinations.
