Podcast: Dechert’s three Women in Business Law awards winners

L to R: Caroline Black, Aparna Sehgal, Katherine Helm

Katherine Helm, a patent specialist, joined the firm’s other two winners to discuss issues including diversity and inclusion

In this podcast we spoke to three Dechert partners who emerged victorious from the Women in Business Law Awards, which is run by Managing IP and its sister titles.

The podcast covered Dechert’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, including its extensive mentorship programmes supporting women associates.

Partner Katherine Helm, whose expertise lies with IP litigation in pharma and biotech, won Best in Patents at the awards. She is a founder of the New York chapter of Chiefs in Intellectual Property, which supports women in technology, law and policy.

The podcast also explored how Dechert assisted Airbus to reach a coordinated global settlement with UK, French and US authorities. Caroline Black, who won Best in White Collar Crime for her work on the Airbus case, spoke about the firm’s Global Women’s Initiative, which includes soft skills training.

The podcast also featured Aparna Sehgal, who leads on finance and real estate. She spoke about Dechert’s Sponsorship and Sustained Support programme, which has enabled 31% of women associates to reach partnership at the firm.
