The UK’s Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) was granted a royal charter by Queen Elizabeth II, meaning it will become the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA). The charter was granted at a meeting of the Privy Council on April 12. The name change will take effect when the Institute receives the Great Seal from the Crown Office later this year. ITMA was founded in 1934 and is the professional membership organisation for the trade mark attorney profession in the UK. |

Finnegan has continued with the expansion of its European practice, with the hire of trade mark attorney Clare A Cornell in London. She joins as a partner, and was formerly at Phillips & Leigh.
IP firm Gill Jennings & Every has hired Peter Arrowsmith as a partner from Cleveland. A patent attorney, he focuses on physics, engineering and computer-implemented inventions.
Kaya Elkiner has joined UK law firm Ashfords to launch its new patenting service as head of patents. A patent attorney, he joins from Keltie. IP firm Haseltine Lake has hired patent attorney Daniel Chew from Withers & Rogers in the UK. He will be partner lead for China and south-east Asia.
