Similoluwa Oyelude is a Partner with the firm and heads the IP Unit along with Fred Onuobia. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2011 and holds an LLM from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. With well over a decade’s experience in IP law practice, she has carved a niche for herself in the industry. She is recognised as a leading lawyer in reputable international directories such as World Trademark Review and a trademark Star 2022 by IP Stars.
With almost 12 years of dedicated IP law practice, she has led various teams in filing and registering trademarks, patents and industrial designs in Nigeria and in several other countries. She routinely provides legal advisory services on IP infringement cases, cease-and-desist letters and unfair competition cases.
She manages the IP portfolio of numerous clients including leading telecommunications companies, FCMCG goods companies, leading technology companies amongst others. Her experience cuts across IP prosecution, IP advisory, IP audits and the commercialisation of IP rights (distributions, assignments, franchise and licence agreements, warranties, representations and covenants relating to IP rights in corporate or takeover contexts), to trademarks, patents and designs portfolio management.
Similoluwa is a member of the INTA, the Nigerian Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Nigeria, European Communities Trademarks Association, Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group, and MARQUES.
