Nicolás is CEO and co-founder of TRBL Intellectual Property. He holds a Ph.D. in physics (2008) and is a European patent attorney (2014), Spanish IP attorney (2024) and European patent litigator (2023). Before founding TRBL Intellectual Property, he was responsible for the electromechanical and software patent departments of two IP firms in Madrid (2009-2015) and worked as scientific researcher in high-energy physics at the Institute for Theoretical Physics - IFT UAM/CSIC (Madrid, 2003-2008), with temporal research stays at KAIST (South Korea, 2005) and University of South Paris (France, 2007). He also has experience as a software engineering consultant (2008-2009).
Nicolás has a broad experience advising clients on the prosecution of patent applications before the European Patent Office, as well as before the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office. His duties include drafting patent applications and participating in examination, opposition, and appeal proceedings. He also participates regularly as an expert in infringement/validity Court Proceedings. His main technical areas of expertise include mechanical and electronics engineering, physics, renewable energies, new materials, nanotechnology, medical devices, telecommunications, software and fintech.
