Biography
Melanie Zani has been working in the intellectual property field for nearly ten years and has focused exclusively on patent litigation for the past five years. Since joining BDPE in 2021, she has represented clients in complex patent disputes, with a particular focus on information technology and electrical engineering.
Throughout her career, Melanie has gained extensive experience in patent litigation involving technologies such as optics, medical technology, mechanical engineering, information technology, and electrical engineering. She regularly works on technically demanding disputes and collaborates closely with clients and co-counsel in developing effective litigation strategies.
Before becoming a patent attorney, Melanie spent five years with a consulting firm serving the utilities sector, where she developed a strong understanding of complex technical systems and industrial processes.
A native of Italy, Melanie is fluent in German, English, and Italian. She holds a master’s degree in engineering from the Politecnico di Milano and is admitted as a German patent attorney. She is also a qualified representative before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
