Maria Maina has a master’s degree in electronic engineering from the University of Pavia, where in 2004 she received the best engineering student award.
She joined P&TS in October 2009 as a patent engineer.
She qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2013, as a Swiss Patent Attorney in 2016 and as an Italian Patent Attorney in 2017.
For several years, she was a tutor on courses on European patent law organised in Switzerland by the University of Strasbourg (epi-CEIPI course).
Since 2022, she involved in the ‘Ethics and Legal Aspects’ course at School of Engineering and Management HEIG-VD for the part concerning intellectual property.
She is also IP special coach for Innosuisse since November 2018.
She is a member of the professional association AROPI (Association Romande de Propriété Intellectuelle).
Maria Maina successfully defended oppositions and appeals before the EPO and litigation in Switzerland and overseas in affairs involving in particular a multinational technology company, hand-held devices leader manufacturers, experts in custom-made microsystems, watchmakers, etc.
