In November 2009, I joined the Manchester office of HGF, who have one of the largest intellectual property law practices in the United Kingdom with offices across the country and Europe, as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney.
I have extensive experience of the filing and prosecution of trade mark applications, oppositions, revocation, rectification and invalidity actions before the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and across the globe.
I also have in-depth knowledge of the enforcement of trade mark, design and other forms of intellectual property rights and have provided strategic advice on the development of brands, worldwide trade mark filing and searching programmes and the enforcement of those rights on a global scale, including anti-counterfeiting measures.
I have considerable experience in the protection and enforcement of trade mark and design rights in China, including the enforcement of rights on online marketplace platforms such as Alibaba and JD.com and the successful enforcement of trade mark rights before the Chinese courts.
I have a Trade Mark & Design Litigators Certificate giving me the right to conduct litigation in the Chancery Division of the High Court and the County Court (including the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court) in relation to trade mark, design and passing off cases and undertake a large amount of work on the enforcement of trade mark rights both online and in more traditional ways.
I have been widely quoted and has spoken on IP matters in the press and on radio and TV, notably in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the New York Times (The Athletic), the Financial Times, The Times, The Sunday Times, BBC Radio 4 and BBC1.
I was made Head of the Manchester Office of HGF in November 2021.
I was nominated for UK (England) Trade Mark Attorney of the Year MIP (Managing Intellectual Property) Awards 2024.
