Joana Eugénio is a Patent Attorney expert in the field of Biotechnology, Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals at J Pereira da Cruz. She has wide experience in prosecution, supporting clients from different geographies to obtain their rights in Europe and beyond, and handling oppositions and appeals. Furthermore, Joana is experienced in providing support in infringement and validity court proceedings, as well as freedom to operate opinions and other IP activities of relevance for business management and strategy.
She obtained her qualification as a Portuguese Patent Attorney (Portuguese Industrial Property Agent) in 2021, and she completed the European Qualifying Examination in 2022, becoming a Qualified European Patent Attorney.
Prior to developing her career in private practice, she was a molecular biology researcher at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology, trainer at the Nova University of Lisbon and at the IP Academy of the Portuguese Industrial Property Office, lecturing on Private Law – Patents, and Patent translator and proofreader.
Joana started in the IP area as a Patent Examiner at the Portuguese Industrial Property Office, where she worked for ten years in the field of Biotechnology.
