I’m a partner specialising in patents and designs in Bird & Bird's IP Group in London.
As a solicitor and a qualified European patent attorney with a background in engineering, my practice and interests are very much tech-focused and I advise clients on all aspects of patents and designs, from filing and prosecution strategies through to licensing, enforcement and conducting litigation.
I have managed many UK High Court and IPEC cases, involving patents relating to a wide range of technologies - from gene therapy (RNAi) to LEDs, video coding (H.264, HEVC), telecoms (cellular) and aircrafts. I have also worked on a number of ICC arbitration cases involving 3G/4G SEP portfolio valuation and FRAND royalty rates.
An important part of my practice is my work with clients in the retail & consumer sector, working closely with the in-house designers and engineers, navigating through the patent and design landscape, as well as handling their IP disputes and licensing issues.
