Hannu Halmetoja

Hannu Halmetoja is a Partner, Licensed Legal Counsel, and European Trademark and Design Attorney at Berggren, based in Helsinki, Finland. He has built a long-standing career advising both domestic and international clients across the full brand lifecycle, from clearance and portfolio strategy to registration, monitoring, enforcement, and defence. Companies of all sizes, from startups and growth companies to established and listed corporations, have benefited from his experience in intellectual property, trademarks, design rights, domain names, copyright and brand protection.

Hannu’s work focuses on the strategic management and enforcement of brands in challenging legal and regulatory environments. He is valued by clients for providing clear, practical advice tailored to real-world decision-making.

Hannu represents clients in administrative proceedings in the EU and Finland and is qualified to represent clients before all Finnish courts. His expertise also extends to unfair commercial practices, as well as marketing and consumer law.

He is deeply involved in the international intellectual property community. He has served as Supervisory Board Member of ECTA and is an active committee member of ECTA (Harmonization and WIPO-Link Committee).
