Lynne Watt is a partner practising in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. Her areas of expertise are commercial litigation, copyright (in particular, the certification of tariffs under the Copyright Act and copyright infringement claims), and appellate advocacy. She is the leader of Gowling WLG's Supreme Court of Canada Services Group.
Lynne has appeared before a variety of tribunals and in all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Lynne has represented clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, enforcing proprietary rights and intellectual property, shareholder and executive disputes, and oppression remedy proceedings. She has participated in numerous mediations and arbitrations and settled the vast majority of cases in which her clients have been involved.
With respect to copyright matters, Lynne appears regularly in proceedings before the Copyright Board of Canada and in judicial review proceedings and appeals of those decisions to the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
