Geographical Indications (GI tags) provide remarkable protection for traditional Indian craftsmanship. On the 75th Indian Independence Day, LexOrbis collaborated with indigenous creators and small businesses through 'Haath ka Bana' to promote and celebrate GI-tagged products. Through this endeavour, the firm sought to create awareness about the contribution of artisans and farmers who have kept India's rich cultural heritage intact for centuries. India's creative DNA is exhibited through over 300 Geographical Indications (GI tags) awarded to artisans and farmers due to their unique locations and customised processes. It is an excellent example of sustainability and development, as these producers have practised their respective arts for centuries, creating opportunities for millions of stakeholders. The firm circulated a bundle of ethically sourced products representing various crafts among the Indian IP community. This bundle included Uttar Pradesh's famous wooden lacquer ware and wooden toys created by the artisans of Kunder Kharadi Samaj, Ikat pattern cotton notebooks and stationery products, Khurja pottery products made by the people of Khurja district in UP, Kar-e-Kalamkari pen stands and coasters made through the processes of Sakhtsazi and Naqqashi, and the first GI-tagged product of India - Darjeeling tea from the state of West Bengal.
The changes made include adding quotation marks around "Haath ka Bana" to indicate that it's a specific organisation's name, ensuring consistent capitalization of "Geographical Indications" and "GI tags," and improving the clarity and flow of the text.
LexOrbis has also been a part of the Brand Action initiative, a collection of people and businesses across the trademark industry coming together to provide meaningful on-the-ground help to people in times of crisis. Brand Action has hosted benefit events during the International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting to raise money to support people displaced by war and natural disasters in Ukraine, Turkey and Syria. Brand Action raised over $80,000 for our two charities, which equates to more than 4,000 meals served and delivery of another container of much-needed medical supplies to the front lines.
