Copyright and trade mark litigator joins Foley & Lardner

IP litigator Jami Gekas, previously of Edwards Wildman Palmer, has joined Foley & Lardner as a partner in its Chicago office.

Gekas brings experience with advertising, marketing, copyright and trade mark issues. She has litigated IP disputes and assists clients with clearing brand names, licensing, executing promotions and evolving media campaigns. Gekas also provides counsel to national advertisers on compliance issues arising from Federal Trade Commission (FTC), National Advertising Division and Children’s Advertising Review Unit regulations.

Gekas has expertise in online rights enforcement, including recovery of infringing domain names, takedown notices and obtaining expedited relief against spoofing, phishing and problematic search engine optimization and keyword advertising practices.
