The Louis Vuitton case. How to respect the intellectual property rights associated with a traditional object

There has been a lot of talk in the Romanian press and media about the use by Louis Vuitton of a traditional Romanian model to promote its own collection. The intervention of the Minister of Culture raised the issue at a national level, with Minister Țurcan requesting "the recognition of the patrimonial and cultural value of the ia cu sinoare model, specific to the Sibiu area."

The problem is not new. For example, in 2004, a document from the World Intellectual Property Organization noted the diversity of positions and the difficulty of finding a common position on the protection of these traditional cultural expressions or expressions of folklore .
