As of 1 January 2025, Bernard Ledeboer is the new chairman of V.O. Patents & Trademarks. He succeeds Herman Witmans, who held the chairmanship from 2019. Witmans will now be able to focus fully on his patent practice again.
Ledeboer finds it honorable to be chairman of the Netherlands’ largest service provider in the field of patents and other intellectual property protection, and one of the larger players in Europe. With his energetic and pragmatic approach, he intends to continue the good policies of his predecessor.
As a Dutch and European patent attorney who has been with V.O. since 1997, Ledeboer can boast an impressive track record. In particular, his combined background in Mechanical Engineering (TU Delft) and Law (Nottingham Law School) and his experience in litigation enables him to build strong patent portfolios for his clients. Over the years, his craftsmanship has consistently earned special mentions and recommendations in leading IP guides such as JUVE Patent, IAM Patent 1000 and Managing IP.
In addition to his work at V.O. , Ledeboer is also part-time judge at the Unified Patent Court, the centralized patent court for 18 EU member states that opened its doors in 2023.
