Basham, Ringe, y Correa announced the appointment of four new partners, strengthening its professional structure in the market and refreshing the leadership of its practice groups. These appointments reflect the Mexican firm's commitment to excellence, professionalism, and client satisfaction.
“This is the second promotion of partners that we have had in less than a year, as a result of the constant growth that Basham, Ringe, y Correa has had in the different practice groups; this is possible thanks to the continuous support of our clients, who have been with us for more than 110 years”, mentioned Eduardo Kleinberg, partner and member of the firm's Executive Committee.
Basham promoted Luis Alvarez of Labor, Norberto Ruiz of Tax, Santiago Villanueva of Social Security, and Santiago Zubikarai of Intellectual Property, all located in our Mexico City office.
Luis Álvarez
Luis holds a Law degree from Universidad Intercontinental with Honorable Mention in Labor Law Specialty from Universidad Panamericana. Luis has more than 15 years of experience in labor consulting and litigation. His professional practice focuses on advising and guiding local and foreign companies in the integral design of their labor structure, including labor contracts, corporate policies, codes of conduct, confidentiality, non-competition, flexible incentives, and the implementation of emotional salaries, among others. He follows up on complex litigation for clients abroad and advises on extraordinary situations that arise daily. International publications such as Chambers and Partners, Best Lawyers, and Legal 500 have recognized his outstanding career path.
Norberto Ruiz
He holds a Law degree from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Tec de Monterrey) and a master's in Tax Law from the Universidad Panamericana. He is an outstanding tax lawyer with more than 13 years of experience. His practice has specialized in tax controversy and litigation, providing strategic advice to clients from diverse sectors, such as investment funds, mining, pharmaceutical, automotive, and consumer products companies. In recognition of his outstanding performance, Norberto has been recognized as "Rising Star of the Year" by the Legal 500 ranking and recognized by Best Lawyers as one of the best in Mexico.
Santiago Villanueva
He holds a Law degree from Universidad La Salle, a master’s degree in Business Law from Universidad La Salle, and a specialization in Tax Law from the Universidad de Estudios de Posgrado en Derecho. With 27 years of experience in Social Security Law, his professional practice has been developed in planning, consulting, strategy, and defense of companies before the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the National Workers' Housing Fund Institute (INFONAVIT), particularly in matters of coactive collection (seizures), cancellation of employer registrations, company classification, occupational risk, disability certificates, employer audits, payment of contributions and amortization of housing loans, among others. His trajectory has been recognized by Legal 500 and other international rankings.
Santiago Zubikarai
He holds a Law degree from Universidad Anáhuac México Norte, with the Egel Excellence Award, a Master of Laws degree from the University of Notre Dame du Lac, and passed the NY Bar exam. Santiago has more than 13 years of experience. He has developed his professional practice in intellectual property, dedicated to activities such as registration of trademarks and copyrights, preparation and review of contracts relating to intellectual property rights, and complex litigation before administrative and jurisdictional authorities about the protection and defense of intellectual property rights and providing opinions and performing audits on intellectual property matters. For his outstanding career path, he has been recognized as a "Rising Star" by Legal 500 and elected by the publication Best Lawyers as "Ones to Watch in Mexico".
