Munich/Amsterdam, September 10, 2022 - The two law firms VOSSIUS & Partner and BRINKHOF have officially announced their cooperation for the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court under the name VOSSIUS & BRINKHOF UPC LITIGATORS. The UPC cooperation between the German and Dutch firms was unveiled on September 10, 2022, at a joint reception for the AIPPI World Congress in San Francisco, USA. The patent litigation practices of the German IP law firm VOSSIUS & Partner and the Dutch law firm BRINKHOF have entered into a cooperation with regard to the UPC.
VOSSIUS and BRINKHOF join forces to prepare our clients for the UPC and to make sure our clients are optimally positioned for the challenges of UPC litigation. VOSSIUS and BRINKHOF will have offices in Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, and Paris. "With this strong combination of two internationally renowned patent litigation practices, we will be able to offer our clients first-class service in the new system," said Dr. Gerhard Hermann, Partner at VOSSIUS. Adds Richard Ebbink, Partner at BRINKHOF: ”The new system will be a European system, based on its own rules. The predominant language will be English. Our combined firms have the experience, language skills, breadth and energy for operating in such a system. We are ready for it.”
In order to ensure the best and most effective service for our clients at all UPC locations, the litigation teams of VOSSIUS & BRINKHOF, who share a long history of friendly relations and substantive collaboration, have decided to form an alliance targeted to the UPC and from now on will be working together on all matters relating to the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court. This cooperation will be realised in that VOSSIUS & BRINKHOF UPC LITIGATORS, will jointly act in all UPC litigation.
At the same time both firms emphasize that nothing will change for clients of the respective firms who will not engage or be engaged in UPC litigation. Existing relationships will continue as before. Non-UPC advice and litigation services will continue to be available from the respective firms by trusted advisors for all existing and new clients. Both firms will remain the independent and autonomous law firms they have always been, and will continue operating under their respective names.
