A team of experienced intellectual property solutions practitioners have established an online patent filing and translation platform aimed at enhancing efficiency and maximising the potential of AI in the space. Managing IP finds out more

TOPPAN Digital IP officially launched to the market on January 23 2025 as an innovative new provider of international patent filing solutions and patent translation services that combines the latest AI technology with expert patent translators.

The venture is backed by TOPPAN Digital Language, a language service provider focused on high-risk business-critical content, and is led by a team of intellectual property (IP) industry veterans. Neil Simpkin, Austyn Hardy, and Chris Evans have over 50 years’ combined experience of leading and growing a leading IP solutions provider.

“Too many IP service providers have been unable to combine the need for genuine patent expertise and customer excellence with a managed approach to the latest developments in AI,” said Simpkin, the senior vice president, IP solutions. “I look forward to hitting that sweet spot and partnering with customers across the globe.”

TOPPAN Digital IP’s vision is that the future of patent filing solutions should be:

  • Integrated – delivering a seamless experience between systems ;

  • Intelligent – providing clear insights and predictive information;

  • Transparent – combining responsive customer service with transparent, value-led pricing;

  • Intuitive – deploying easy-to-use technology that keeps you informed; and

  • Secure – managing the use of AI to ensure confidentiality every step of the way.

To realise that vision, the team are launching an online patent filing and translation platform to deliver a suite of services, STREAM IP.

Those services include patent translation and international filing for Patent Cooperaton Treaty national and regional phase entry and Paris Convention filing, EPO patent validation and Rule 71(3) formalities, and patent renewals. STREAM IP has been designed specifically to change the way patent attorney firms and patent holding companies manage their patent translation and filing formalities.

The platform is designed to enable customers to customise their user experience to meet their specific needs, empowering teams to operate more efficiently. For example, workflow management options combine technology and customer service with the aim of making processes less complex and more streamlined. An ensuing reduction in email traffic and integration into other systems and platforms also has the potential to make communication between colleagues and partners more effective. Furthermore, data and analytics on patent filing activity, spend, and savings are intended to facilitate strategic decision making and provide business intelligence.

Through STREAM IP, TOPPAN Digital IP wants to empower customers with solutions that service the needs of tomorrow. If you are interested in finding out more, you can visit toppandigital-ip.com or email TDIP@toppandigital.com.
