Hiroshi Sheraton will join the firm alongside a transactional specialist from Covington & Burling

Morgan Lewis has bolstered its intellectual property and transactions teams in London with the appointments of litigator Hiroshi Sheraton and life sciences specialist Luciana Griebel.

Sheraton joins from Baker McKenzie today, September 2, while transactional lawyer Griebel, who was previously at Covington & Burling, will join on Friday, September 6.

The hire of Sheraton brings US-headquartered Morgan Lewis’s London-based IP team to eight – four partners and four associates.

The team comprises partners Nicholas Bolter, Martin Henshall, Mike Pierides, and Sheraton. Henshall and Bolter joined the firm in 2020, and Pierides has been there since 2018.

Both Sheraton and Griebel are life sciences specialists.

Sheraton will assist companies in high-stakes patent and brand matters while Griebel, who will not work directly in the IP team, will work on global acquisitions and divestitures, private equity transactions, and strategic investments.

Jami McKeon, the firm’s US-based chair, said: “Hiroshi and Luciana each bring a background and targeted skillset to help global pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies protect their products and brands and achieve their growth objectives.”

Kathleen Sanzo, co-leader of the firm’s life sciences team, said the appointments accentuate the firm’s investment into its life sciences capabilities in London, Europe, and around the world.

“Their respective focus on critical IP issues and M&A will benefit clients doing cross-border business in these markets and beyond and position them well to work with colleagues across practices and jurisdictions.”
