The USPTO's man in Beijing
In September 2004 the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) appointed Mark Cohen, a long-time China specialist and attorney-adviser in its office of enforcement, to serve as its first intellectual property attaché to the US Embassy in Beijing. The unusual step showed the level of concern within the US administration about the way intellectual property rights are protected in China and its determination to improve the situation.
